This webinar was hosted by NetGain Partnership, a philanthropic collaboration seeking to advance the public interest in the digital age. As part of this work, the Partnership has been exploring efforts to engage tech funders and investors in ensuring existing and emerging technologies uphold human rights and better serve the public interest.
The largest companies in the world by market capitalization, such as Amazon, Meta, and Alphabet were all backed by venture capital. Because investors play a significant role in early company building, they have influenced the ultimate trajectory and culture of the businesses we see today. Early-stage investors, either alone or in collaboration with others, have the potential to play a transformative role in shaping the business models, policies, and practices of technology companies for the better or worse.
This session discussed funding models that change the rules of the game and build the tech we want.
